The roots of the guitar in jazz go back to before the time of swing. Even back then, guitars were used to accompany jazz orchestras.

Since then, many jazz guitarists have greatly developed the sound in all possible sub-genres of jazz: Pat Metheny, George Benson, Wes Montgomery, John Scofield, Django Reinhardt, to name just a few of the best-known jazz guitarists. They have left their mark on the various genres.

No wonder more and more guitarists want to get into this genre.

Jazz chords or often the introduction to improvisation with chord tones form the introduction to jazz guitar lessons. A well-known piece such as "Autumn Leaves" could be an excellent basis for a lesson on jazz chords. In general, the collected pieces from the Real-Book and their chords are often used.

The first sense of achievement comes quickly. Chords are quickly learned. You will be able to use these to accompany your first pieces. After a few lessons you should be able to play a simple piece.

After a year or around 40 guitar lessons, you will be able to play most chords independently. You will be able to play more complex songs and chord sequences. Solos and improvisations will also be achievable.

Most jazz guitar stars, such as Django Reinhardt, actually taught themselves how to play.

If you are disciplined, you can try to teach yourself jazz guitar.

Please note: With self-taught learning, there is a risk of mistakes creeping in. If the movements are trained incorrectly, you won't be able to correct them as quickly.
